Tracy Glover’s creative vision is shaped by myriad influences, from her visually rich childhood to the interplay of light and color she observes while rowing on the river in the early morning near her home in Rhode Island. Her mother is Finnish, and Tracy grew up in a household filled with colorful Marimekko textiles, Scandinavian furniture, Dansk dinnerware, and Finnish carpets. The clean lines, jewel tones, and designs that were both cleverly engineered and casually elegant made a lasting impression.
Tracy earned her BFA in glass at RISD and continued her studies at the crystal factory of a 13th-century Belgian convent and at Dale Chihuly’s Pilchuck School of Glass, where she was mentored by Venetian masters. She has an innate understanding of her materials and enjoys collaborating with her clients to push the medium to its fullest potential. She takes pride both in elevating the familiar and creating designs that feel startlingly original.
Tracy Glover Studio avidly explores the perfect balance of sculptural and functional to create lighting and objects with a modern edge. Color is used with intention, shapes have a narrative quality, and there is a clear delight in producing the unexpected. Informed by Italian glass-blowing traditions, inspired by Finnish design, and crafted with personality, our work can be found in restaurants, hotels, commercial spaces, and private residences.
Tracy has conceived her lighting – table lamps, wall sconces, ceiling pendants, and chandeliers – as a system of interchangeable parts offering a multiplicity of choices for the proportion and shape of base components, glass color, lampshade fabric, metal finishes and lamping. Likewise, the accessories – decorative hardware, and vases – are available in a wealth of color combinations and patterns. This allows optimal room for our clients’ input: each piece can be site-specific, and, depending on the elements selected, quietly tasteful, dramatic, stately, or whimsical. We welcome your inquiries.
Tracy Glover uses traditional Italian techniques to craft her exuberant glassworks. Each is uniquely handblown to order in her Pawtucket, RI studio. Tracy has a glassmaking BFA from RISD. She honed her craft in a 13th century Belgian convent’s crystal factory and Dale Chihuly’s Pilchuck School, where she was mentored by Venetian maestri-in-residence.
Delighting in the physicality of the process, it’s no coincidence she is an avid oarsman, rowing daily at dawn. The prismatic meeting of sunlight and tides is invariably echoed in her translucent, faceted glass designs.
From your first contact with the studio through hand blowing each piece of glass, engineering, and shipping out your order, our team is always working hard to bring your vision to life.
